Some Question and answers on some food, whats' ur comment?
Question
I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions.
Q1)Is Bird's Nest soup good for pregnant women? I'm 12 weeks pregnant, I would like to know what are the benefits of consuming the traditional Bird's Nest soup, if any.
Q2) I understand that spinach, when cooked in soup or stir fry, the stock derived from the spinach will destroy/reduce the nutrients in the other ingredients (chicken, fish, meat etc) and even the nutrients in other dishes for the meal. Is this true?
Answer
Bird's Nest, is the salivary secretion of the male sea swifts. It is made up of pre-digested form of protein and nutrients. It is believed to help speed up recovery of chronic illness but there is no study to confirm nor disprove this. Pregnant women are especially encouraged to consume Bird's Nest because it is believed that the baby will have a beautiful glowing complexion (again no study to confirm that). However, one must be aware that Bird's Nest is known to trigger moderately severe allergic reactions in people who are allergic to it.
Spinach contains high concentrations of oxalic acid which can interfere with the utilization of calcium or magnesium in the diet. Other than this effect, spinach does not destroy any nurtients.
tis was taken fm a Q&A in the ezyhealth mag.. so how many of u out there have tested n can confirmed tat bird nest taken during pregnancy makes the difference??
