Tis long weekend was dedicated for Prince Ethan

First, look at tis pix.. aww.... isn't he cute! look at those eyes, hynotizing uh! Saturday, we collected Ethan's passport, you will laugh when you see the pix, he looked like a 1 year old boy! HA! Will scan and show you all one day. Anyway, pass this weekend, we went shopping as didnt go anywhere. Initial plan was to go MY for a short trip, but with all the flood, nah, didnt want to take the risk. So, we end shoppin in SG, here is another pix of the clothes we got for him.. Some from St Michael, and the boxes you see are rompers from John Little, good buy, 3 pieces for $14.90 and on top of tat you have additional 15% discount + 5% rebate for Robinson. We bought two boxes and we had some from previously. Anyway, tis comin week, we need to ensure all the stuff needed for baby to the infantcare is complete... how time flies, we hope he can be adjusted to it.. mummy for one, goin to miss him dearly as have been seeing him whole day for past 2 months plus... till new posting, here's wishing all merry x'mas and before you know it, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

it's been amazing seeing small miracles tat happens everyday

let's do a little write up since not done so for so long... Ethan is doing fantastically great, for the past week, he has picked up the following and we have managed to video it down... thank god we did not send him to the infant care earlier else would have missed all tis... Before he turns 2 months, his focusing time span has been progressing well, being able to follow movement of objects n etc. He has also learnt communicating. We even have a video which seems like he was singing! in bb language of course! haha! Other historical milestones.. 14th Dec - Prince Ethan turns 2 months 18th Dec - Prince Ethan for the very first time gave us a very BIG smile, tho he did smile before tis, but tis one was BIG! Today, 21st Dec - he managed to grab hold of a small drumlet which grandma bought for him.. And yeah, we were so lucky to have it in video.. will try host it on Youtube one day.. He is growing by the day and we guess at same time, learning things along the way... we feel so happy and proud to have him... tho at times, he can be throwing his tantrum, but all tiredness from work or any other stress are wiped away just by seeing him... X'mas round the corner, initially wanted to go somewhere, but not too sure if we drive to MY, he will be happy sitting in the car for too long.. anyway, let;s see how it goes.. btw, tis Saturday we gonna pick up his second official document, his PASSPORT! :) All blog followers here, we would like to wish u all a MERRY X'MAS!

Anticipation..

That's the big word now... ANTIPATION.... weekend sure passes by quickly, before we know it, its over.. yesterday was rushing about, booked a place for bb's infant care, Learning Vision, then went to get mooncakes n passed it to the relatives.. before we know it the day was gone.. today, went grocery shopping, then do house chores and some work, and gone, there goes the sunday.. suspenceful... exciting... funny thing we were joking about the timing when bb decides to come out... if he decides to come out towards next weekend, 6th and 7th is an auspicious date, and both are nice, cos if its 6th, its going to be 061006... and if he decides to come on 7th, that's our wedding "dinner" anniversary! :) so cool! am on standby now, waiting to be activated... :) p/s if you all visit tis blog often, don't forget to click on the ads ya, then can help us get more milk money... hahaha!!!

1 week update

it has passed one week since last update, how time flies.. let's see where do i start.. last weekday, bz, bz n bz... weekend, morning we went to check out the infantcare centres around here, hmm, no comments.. think we will just go for the best, Learning Vision.. we also went to get a new sofa for home... cos the current one think 5 yrs, ROI liao and on top of that, probably have been destroyed by Taz.. talking about Taz, he has been getting rebellious nowadays, urinating at spots, and not his usual tray.. think he can sense competition for our affection soon... we also went to see Dr. A, bb is doing great, he weighs about 2.7kg and should be expected round about early Oct... and weigh should be bout 3kg by then.. thrilling isn't it! on sunday, we went to my sis pl after a lunch meal w them to have a small celebration for Rachel's birthday... as a present, we bought her an easel like magnetic boards which can also stick magnetic alphabets on it.. it can also be folded into a table and comes with a stool, she loves it! well, anticipation, excitement all lumped in.... shopping list for bb's stuff almost completed... left probably 2 items on the list.. 1. drawer for his clothes 2. small items like diapers n etc which i believe the hospital will give some that will last for the first week? this week going to be another super bz week. Btw, tomorrow i'm launching Miami vice campaign in Malaysia together with support from Universal Pictures!

August liao lor, the countdown begin!

omg, its Aug already, n we hv like 2 months plus when bb really comes into tis world! so excited... let the countdown begin! amidst all the hustle bustle of daily life, many things hv been accomplished! in work, i sealed a deal w a malaysian telco n tats being done in my 3rd week of work, all fm ground zero to signing the contract n launching the campaign next week! we have also visited the Learning Vision school in Arthur Road, we liked the place n am more or less have mind set to bring bb there when he is 2 months plus. The activities r good, bb massages, bathe, picking up of motoring skills n u get a daily remark in ur bb's report book on his progress! well, i always believe u need to hv the right foundations n guidance fm professionally trained people to nurture the initial skills a bb needs.. then when we spoil him during his time with us, he will better behaved due to the skills n fixed time training given in the schools. All first time parents for sure will dote on their kid, n sometime i hv to admit tat i for sure will just overdo it. So, good to have balance, strict in the days, pampered in the nites.. No offence to people who have their mothers taking care of their kids, but some how or i rather i find it odd on why we keep passing on teachings tat we know its not right but hv to submit at times to parents who stand by tis rules? They swear by it tat these is how we were brought up.. but then again, tis is now a different generation lor... with all respect, i would love our bb to hv their grandparents love, lots lots of them, but perhaps not the teachings.. i need to call the Baby Kingdom n confirm the delivery date of bb's cot by end tis week. pass on from our dear cousin Jen n Alson, we have now a changing table for bb, n also the resting pad, forgot the name, for breastfeeding... talkin bout tat, wonder wat happen to our madela pump which we were supposedly to b gettin a good deal for it.. hmm... need to start doin bits of deco in the guest rm, to b converted to bb's room i need to also get the confinement food trial on soon! shit! forgot all abt tis when they did not reply my emails. will start workin on the rest on the list. bb seems to b hyper nowadays, kicking n punching inside! it seems, when i come home fm work or meet wifey n when he hears my voice, he will kick n punch! ha! haven't really manage to see clearly his kicks n punch yet, but perhaps soon i guess.. we seeing our doc tis fri, can't wait to see him clearly on the screen again! k, gonna hit the sack now.. hv a good night all!

Yearning..

wifey loves durian, tat i know but bb also likes it much! so nowadays we have like durians at least once a week? wow! there is tis stall along Upp Serangoon which sells durian $20 for 3, its fleshy n taste good! Or if you prefer something not too fleshy but bitter sweet in taste, and durian from Batu Pahat, can try the little stall just outside a mosque at Seranggon North.. so, its durian n durian galore! myself been very bz since joining tis start up co, in fact just into my 2nd week, zoom there i was in msia for 3 days talking to the Telcos over there! it sure is hectic but exciting.. while gone, wifey n bb was accompanied by Joy, so it was alright... bb seems to be kicking hard nowadays.. and according to Babycentre, he should be doing wat a born bb should b doin... he will be seen to be sucking thumbs at times, yawning n even hiccup... as a matter of fact, if hiccup occurs often.. there is tis term called hiccup bb? need to go find out wats it all about... anyway, time does seem to b nearing n its 2 months plus more before bb does arrive... so exciting! things to do:
  • call n do some confinement food catering (trial) so tat when its time, we know which one to use
  • scout for infant care near either home or office area
  • explore option if any good nanny near home area
  • in aug, to call n arrange for delivery of the cot n pram
  • start workin on the stuff needed list for bb
  • work out budgettin n source for best unit trust funds for bb

tats all i can think of for now.. till somethin else crops up!

k, back to doing some work n then to watch golf, British Open! Tiger go El Tigre!

For mommies for just dont have the time to teach. May I suggest these VCDs.

  • Your Baby Can Read http://www.infantlearning.com/videoclips.html It works like the Flash Card method. Word, Pronounce, Action/Picture.
  • So Smart! SeriesThere are a few titles to this series. Recommended for babies 6mths and above.Only picture with classical music,A couple of title recommended for older kids have narration.
  • Brainy Baby SeriesAlso has a few titles catered for different age group. The ones I bought are titled 'English' which is similar to Your Baby Can Read but the word appears together with the picture and 'ABCs' more for older kids. It teaches phonics as well.

You can get all these from Popular Book Store. Spend some time with your child to watch these VCDs. It will bring you closer to you child and your child gets to learn together with you. courtesy: http://www.singaporemoms.com/community/node/44949

Anniversary..

yesterday was our anniversary, its been "x" number of years that wifey n myself been together.. we've gone thru lots of ups n downs, n its amusing at times when u look back at some of the things u've done... Wifey, Happy Anniversary!!! well, we celebrated it on an "easy" tone... went to watch "chao ren" = superman? at Omni Theatre, wow, headache la, the screen so "stretched n close", nevertheless, perhaps tats a wrong movie to watch at Omin theatre i guess cos lots of close up movements n the movie is a bit draggy in a way... anyway, it was cool experience, wifey first visit to Omni n my first time watching a full featured movie on the screen... we then went to the Hilltop, a place at near Jurong Birdpark for lunch... subsequently just had a quiet evening... we also bought a vcd n cd for bb to listen, so tat he can hv variety, bought english n mandarin, hopefully when he is out, tis music sounds familiar to him... well, today is the first working day for month July, hopefully i will be able to quickly secure one of the opportunities tat am working on n get back to full action in the market.. but till then, life still continues n u just need to keep up the strong faith...

Saturday, July 01, 2006

As i finished last posting, realised its already month of July..

New month, new look.... enjoy!

Baby Care..

last ParentCraft was interesting... its abt bbcare.. didnt' know tat there r so many things tat am aware of ... learnt how to bathe bb, how to soothe n "wrap" him up for security.. how to distinguish true cries n "fake" ones.. how to handle bb shld he has "colic"... n bb massages... so cool. But too many to absorb at one instance, so will probably go buy the book to practise n do it in details.. we also bought more mozart n bach music for bbs' listening.. he has also heard Snow White n Jack n the Beanstalk stories... since his taste bud has formed, we r tellin me wat he's eatin nowadays.. like for example.. today breakfast, he had sausages, scrambled eggs, corn cob n hash browns... then some strawberry milk... later he will b havin pomfret steamed w garlic, dow miao stir fried w minced meat n pumpkin soup stewed w chicken bones... we r at home today, probably rest cos tomorrow we r goin to do something different, catch a movie at Omni MAx! So cool, imagine seeing the man with his underwear outside the super hero outfit flying on a 360 degrees dome!! told wifey, bb sure kick w all the surround system in place... can;t wait! heee... to all, hv a great weekend!!! Tonight - buy 0 n 1 goals for both World Cup matches lor..

Ok ok, one last post to make up for the past few days... Baby Names

interesting read.. some applicable, some not... Naming a baby is no easy task. However, the following tips will help you give your baby his or her very first gift.
  • Religion: For some parents, religion plays a major role in choosing a baby name. Roman Catholics traditionally choose saints’ names. Jews traditionally choose Old Testament names. Names of deceased relatives are often chosen. Protestants often choose both Old and New Testament names. Interesting Fact! : The majority of the people in the Western hemisphere have names from the Bible. The New Testament is a more popular source of names than the Old Testament.
  • Number of Names. You have many options when it comes to the number of names you choose for your baby. It is very common for a baby to be given three names, however, this is not mandatory. You may choose a first and last name; a first and last name and only a middle initial; initials for both first and middle names; or several middle names. Keep in mind, though, that several middle names will cause space problems for your child any time he or she fills out a form.
  • Sounds. Names are easy or hard to say depending upon the combination of letters used. A name such as Harry Berry invites potential teasing. Try this to create a nice effect: choose a first name that has the same amount of syllables as the last name. Whoopi Goldberg is a good example. Interesting Fact! : Whoopi Goldberg’s original name is Caryn Johnson.
  • Pronunciation. Nobody likes to have their name mis-pronounced. This is an important factor to keep in mind with unique names.
  • Popularity. Choosing a popular name increases the likelihood that there will be other children in your child’s school with the same name. This may make him or her not feel as unique. However, a child with a popular name may be perceived better by peers than a child with a unique name.
  • Stereotypes. Many names create a positive or negative image. A name is often a person’s first introduction to others. Therefore, you must make careful considerations when choosing a name to fit your new baby.
  • Initials. Initials of a person’s name often spell words. If you choose to take this route, be sure that it will be a word you son or daughter will be happy with.
  • Meanings. Almost every name has a meaning. However, most people don’t know the meaning of their names. This may help in deciding between some of your favorite baby name choices.
  • Family History. Family History often comes into play when naming a baby. If you have to use a family name that you aren’t happy with, consider using it as a middle name.
  • Celebrity Names. A common source of today’s baby names comes from the names of celebrities and from the names that celebrities choose for their children. Characters from TV and movies are another popular source.
  • Make sure that the name you choose is one that your child will be able to grow with. Keep in mind that it should be applicable for all ages. Many names come with stereotypes.
  • It is important for both parents to compromise when selecting a name for your baby. However, keep in mind that you can always use two names, using one as a middle name.

Let me make a post before i get my butt to work..

omg, its already Thurs, n how time flies.. well as my earlier blog says, today is wifeys' BIG Day!! Happy Birthday Dear! Hope u liked the special breakfast i made.. sardines w cool cucumber accompanied w a sip of Meiji Fresh Milk, n to top it up w fresh juicy kiwi fm NZ added w a tingling salt n sweetness to the vitamin riched green apple.. bon apetite! :) ok, let's see wat hv evolved for past few days... actually been in n out of house for meet-ups, can't recall much of it, except tat yesterday, after meetings, went to orchard in late afternoon to shop for wifey's birthday gift, due to "budget" constraint.. :( , finally found the right wallet which we saw together before... gone r the days where am willing to splurge on materialistic stuff, imagine paying $500 bucks for a wallet.... money will now be better saved for bb n for some investment n savings... here's the pic of the wallet lor, one of the latest collection... As to how bb is doing, he is now quite intelligent already, it seems tat he got bored with the music tat mummy is playin in the car everyday, n just because of "xian", he will just sleep through it, but when mummy sings w the music in the car, then he becomes active!! so clever... How your baby's growing: Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week, when she was just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long, that makes a pretty lean figure, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon put on more baby fat. Your baby's skin is thin, translucent, and wrinkled, her brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds are developing. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily. Amazing stuff!! tis is how bb is in mummy now.. pic n description is courtesy from babycentre.com i very bad lor, becos so bz, mummy is the one readin him story for past few days lor.. better make it a point to do so liao... naughty me! oh, yesterday, gave me a fright when i tot wifey fell, but it was actually she slipped but managed to not fall.. phew! got worried for awhile... TO DO LIST, think better go get better pair of shoes tis weekend... ok, today is wifey's big day, maybe go buy toto on her lucky numbers n see can strike ornot.. :)

Happy Birthday Dear!!

tis is the most important post i need to put up first... Happy Birthday dear! You're the best thing that have happened in my life!!!

Thurs n Fri was very bz, dashin in out of CommsAsia, nothing much tis year.. the nx wave i guess for wireless would very much be Broadband TV n handset manufacturers are definetely goin tat direction.. on thurs, we went for ParentCraft class n guess wat, we were filmed for a video clip n will probably be featured in the future classes! Told bb tat he is already a superstar n he has not come out into the world yet.. mummy n daddy is sure goin to b proud! :) Nx week goin to b pretty bz i guess as some of the meetings in CommsAsia had developed some good business leads.. the weekend seem to hv passed quite quickly, Saturday went bfast in mornin n pretty much rested for the day.. Bb now weighs 626 grams!

According to BabyCentre, bb should be... How your baby's growing: Your baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound. His skin is red and wrinkled. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare him for breathing. He can swallow, but he normally won't pass his first stool (called meconium) until after birth. Loud noises heard often in utero — such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze your baby when he hears them outside the womb. Bb weighs 626grams now, above the 1 pound, n growing well.. btw, here is a golden number uh, 6260!! haha! we also collected the Anomaly Scan results back, all norm n in good shape! The scan last night was pretty fast as our gynae was like in a rush, then again most important thig is bb is kicking mummy n very active nowadays! so instead of dainty kicks, he now kicks like "Andrei Schvechenko", one of the world's most expensive footballers! haha! anyway, also to share tat came across tis website, maybe good for u to see the products n maybe check out the prices for comparison.. www.babytown.com.sg till then again, cya..

Shopping, partial done..

on the weekend, we hv gotten the most important item for bb.. his bed... its a 6 in1 where u can convert it to a junior bed for bbn he can sleep in it till 3 to 4 yrs old.. n it has 4 levels of height where it can be used.. with a one-hand maneuvor for lifting up the crib's door.. quite a good buy, we got it for less than $300, outside selling $300+ "ah mai" Joy also went with us to do the shopping n she bought bb his first car.. its Capella Optima Air.. can't find the actual pix, but its exactly the same one as tis LuckyBaby one.. we liked it cos its light n when folded, its quite small. it also caters for fm newborn to 3 yrs old.. we went to Baby Hypermart n Baby Kingdom at Kaki Bukit, we bought it fm Baby Kingdom cause its not too cramped or crowded as Hypermart. But honestly, not all the things in the hypermarts are cheaper.. for example the Medela Pump is cheaper at Kiddy Palace when they had the 20% sales (ended yesterday), but we got the cot n stroller slightly cheaper n they absorbed the GST n Free Delivery, so it was alright.. Also, so far bb now seems to be able to understand what we say, cause he kicks mummy when questions are asked.. :) he has so far listened to Jack n the Beanstalk n Cinderalla story for the week, mummy read him some chinese one which i know nuts lor.. mummy is goin to b very bz tis week cos of CommunicAsia, n we will be seeing our gynae tmr! YEAH!! can say hi to bb again!!! excited, exhilarated!!! :) k, need to go get some stuff done... cheers all n hv a great week ahead!!

Reason...

For everythin tat happens, there muz b a reason y its happenin.. well, my job huntin wasn't successful.. well, perhaps there is something greater awaiting, will just keep on trying.. "if u think u can. u can!" last week was rather bz, parents was in town.. we had our first ParentCraft class, we liked it, it was good, in fact it was extended for an hour... :) we have confirmed the following: 1. bird nest of any grades has same nutrients, its just a matter of taste to ur liking 2. DHA supplements, not necessary as our body itself produces enough nutrients for bb 3. Coconut water can take, but its cooling, so best taken only in last tri 4. Alcohol is a definate no-no 5. "not fully ripe" papaya soup is good for producin "milk" 6. sushi can take, but make sure fm a clean n reputable restaurant lor but cockles n crab, better don risk it lor, cos of the places n food they take.. *urgh* we also learnt some exercises, for mummy n bb... many other things we learnt. can't wait for nx one.. parents left on the weekend.. on the weekend decided to catch a movie cos not done so for v long, we watched CARS, we love it! Animation was great! Storyline simple but good.. i would give it a 3 out of 5 stars. N yesterday, we went out for dinner n wifey is now proudly carryin her early bday present lor... :) wifey, hope u liked it.. and most importantly, bb seems to be gettin more active nowadays.. well, managed to read him half of "Sleeping Beauty" last night, will continue part 2 tonight.. :)

let us reveal the suspense..

am down with flu n sore throat, will make tis short.. if those who r still figuring out our bb's gender, well, allow us to not leave u in suspense anymore, its confirmed a BOY! we went for detailed scan, bb was very active, he even posed for every angle tat the scope was pointing at.. in fact, when zoom to the "ku ku chiu" part, he proudly showed it! :) will share some scan pic when feel better.. strikin off from the to-do-list also, we have signed up for the ParentCraft class by Mrs. Wong and class will commence soon.. as for the work hunt.. there seems to be a tide of change, the one i loved so much, well think the investor discussion didnt go as smooth as would like to, while the other, will need to see wat happens next.. also celebrated Ranae's full month on the weekend.. will blog again and perhaps post some pix when i am in right state of condition..

Parentcraft courses...

for the benefit of those expecting mums into their 20th week of gestation n considerin a Parentcraft course... tis is wat TMC provides.. some of the classes are conducted by a very experienced Mrs. Wong, whom has also written some books too.. http://www.thomsonmedical.com/PS_ante.htm i will get tis done by end week when we are down there for our detailed scan..

Pix of our pretty niece, Ranae Sam

pic of our niece Ranae, sleeping in my arms.. she is droolin cos got stuffy nose lor.. so pretty..

So near, yet so far....

i think must make it a discpline n a point to update tis blog more often.. anyway, been super busy lately.. as the title says it... so near yet, so far..
  • there has been round n rounds of discussion on the opportunity i've spoke about, the CEO, the investor, the directors... hope to seal it soon
  • if the first one doesnt' work out, already have secured the other opportunity n waiting for the contract, n will am still loving tis!
  • n most importantly, the long awaited time we all been waiting for, we meeting our GYNAE tonight!!! and yeah can see BB again!!! N we will know if bb is boy or girl lor...

SO EXCITING! we can then start shoppin for bb stuff liao n redecorate the bb room.... haha, n best of all, it conincide w the GREAT SINGAPORE SALES!!! :)

Reminder:

Will ask gynae for following:

  1. More frequent visits so tat we can follow up the progress of bb closely
  2. Which supplement is best at tis stage to add to the current dosage of multivitamins n "bird nests", thinking take some DHA supplements as well

Striking of one item from the list to do...

think mummy would hv enough clothes for now to last for at least 1 to 2 months liao

Next important thing to do as i have been reminded"

Sign up for the pre natal class soon..

tats all for now folks, will keep u all posted of the great news n great days ahead!! somehow or rather i think bb is goin to b bring us lotsa of luck!

but i always pray to buddha tat wats most important instead is for all us to b healthy n will have things done smoothly, including to our coming bb... if luck comes, its a bonus... :)

Adjustment to lifestyle..

As the title says it, it seems tat both of us are goin thru a transition where we start thinkin as parents, wats best to do for bb when he/she is out, for now n for future ... nowadays, it seems watever we r buyin or spendin, we need to carefully plan for it.. n most of the time when we r buyin things, its either for the house, mummy or bb only, n of course for wifey's maternity clothes n the medical bills for check up n all... its not to say tat we were spendthrift before this, but its just tat we r "more careful" in our spendings now. wat has happened in the past week plus? well... my sis gave birth to my 2nd niece, her name is Ranae... she was born slightly on a smaller frame, but she is very active. In fact she started tossing around on her own in the 2nd day itself! The pic as above. She was an angel, at times when we hear her cry it kinda of like prepared us for wat to expect when its our turn .. :) but guess tats the joy of bein a parent uh! so far, being kiasu, we have also started reading to bb of stories, we have bought alphabet flash cards, we bought some instrumental music CDs (5th onwards month, bb would hv developed hearing n can already pick all these up), we have also gone to check out the "cars" and "bed"for bb (can u believe it tat a "pram/car" can cost upto SGD$799 and a "baby cot/bed" can cost SGD$1,899! wow!.. we also gone to library to borrow some nursery rhymes book (english n mandarin).. will read more of these n maybe will slip in some easy to read motivational books also uh, "Who Moved My Cheese?, "Fish!", "Poor Dad, Rich Dad"... :P well, a week plus more we will be going for the detailed scan, we should b able to tell if bb is confirmed a boy or girl, we can then start lookin at how to decorate the bb's room n also clothes to buy, cant wait. am excited! as for us, weekends nowadays r like spending time restin cos wifey startin to get tired out easily.. but one thing good her appetite is back, she eats non stop! HA! her tummy can now see is protruding liao n growing by the day.. in fact only yesterday, she could feel bb turnin inside her tummy.. :) so interesting, cos i heard u can only feel tat 6th month onwards.. looks like bb is goin to b very active.. :) as for myself, the huntin for somethin new to do was great last week, a Japanese company has just set up an office in Singapore funded by govt., n they need people to run the business here, v good session i had w the CEO n look forward to hopefully seal it tis week. The main thing is tis job is v cool n i believe the business growth can fly.. told the CEO, at times work being work, its not all about pay, but believe n passion in the service/product potential and business growth itself is v important! pray pray for me hor for those readin tis blog.. k, when i get tis job which i believe should b quite likely, will open champagne cos its very rare to being able to do something tat u r so passionate about n yet being paid well.. :)

New template

month of May, new template.. green supposed to b my lucky color.. also, i decided to remove little junior for the title... little n junior, wat kind of english is tat, kao! hope u all like tis template better, think the color is more soothin to read..

another week gone...

well, its another week gone.. bb growing well for sure cos mummy eating more nowadays. Tummy also starting to protrude liao.. think time for mummy to go do some shopping for "maternity" clothes.. 3 more weeks before goin for our check up again n will get to also see bb.. others, i got a job offer n i rejected it, omg! did i do the right decision? then again, employers just need to understand tat u need to pay "fair value" to get and keep a good staff.. there is no such thing as undercutting a person before even given the chance for the person to prove his worth.. if u hv doubt about it, no point, move on.. now back to "hunting".. my sis wil be also giving birth this week, ha, another niece coming... parents also will be here, so it will probably b a very bz weekend.. furkid taz had his "grooming" last week n he looks like a puppy now.. argh... mental block.. will write again soon... long weekend coming, to all visitors, enjoy!

Sunday, Labour Day, Tuesday, today Wednesday..

Sunday.. Let me recall... err... morning went out to do grocery shopping.. had brunch.. then back home to do some work.. Recipe for the day..
  • Preserved mustard boiled with big bones, tomatoes, onions
  • Cauliflower, brocolli and golden mushroom cooked in fresh milk
  • Steamed red snapper in sauce

In evening, the residents had a bbq downstairs, so joined them. Was quite fun... we chatted n joked till the early wee hours..

Labour Day

At home for the day cause wifey not feelin too well.. did house work... wash tis, scrub tat n vacuum tis, mop tat kinda of stuff...

N not mising out, check emails n did some work..

Tuesday..

Wifey didnt feel well, so took leave. i had a meeting to discuss on an opportunity.. a small company needs someone to help them "revive" the business. Big title with not so fantastic package... question now, is it worth to take the risk now to make it happen first n claims wats deserved later or settle for something which is more assured?

Well, will know when meet the company' investor tomorrrow..

Evening, we went for our gynae follow up. It was a remarkable thing to witness, bb was actually kinda of like "swimming" in mummy's tummy... can even see bb waving to say ALO ALO!!

we told our gynae, hey, how about seeing if bb got "kangkang" the legs so tat we know the gender... bb play peek-a-boo lor... so keep us in suspense lor... guess we need to wait till nx detailed scan in early June..

as to some questions we asked..

cosmetics - All cosmetics sold in Singapore r approved n save for pregnant women. Except for stuff havein "retin A", a substance which is harmful but in Singapore u cant find tis in products sold on the shelf of reputable pharmacies or cosmetic counters. Retin A needs prescription.

Stretch cream - there are 10 brands in the mkt, n the best thing is none of them is actually tat effective, so don waste money lor.. its natural for mothers to hv stretch mark!

Cola, Sprite cause diabetes, humbug lor!

We hv a scan of bb's face, can see the features lor..

Now come June, we will know if bb is boy or girl n we can start shoppin liao lor... but overall most importantly bb n mummy is both healthy n doing just fine!

Wednesday

Which is today, now, updating tis blog now n soon be out of house.. will go meet the investor for the opportunity..

wish me all the luck ya!

oh btw, wifey is back to work today also...

Baby names...

hmm... baby names... i kinda of like these: Name n its meanings.. Boy Jared - down to earth Caleb - faithful Zan - diversity Jovan - majestic Girl Caithlyn - pure, beauty Callista - most beautiful Alisha - truth, noble Sofia - Lover of wisdom maybe pick one of these? :)

I shall make tis a lengthy post since hv been missing for 2 weeks..

the adults.. wifey n myself hv been bz... keepin things back to track. Good tat wifey's nausea is subsiding, n her appetite is retuning. One thing for sure, bb seems to like lots of sweet stuff.. tho the chances r diabetes during pregnancy is there, but will minimize it whenever possible n tis is one thing tat bb will not reject.. Wifey's back at work, while i'm back to my "work" routine.. Bb.. At tis stage, bb will move all his/her limbs n am bz inhaling n exhaling amniotic fluid which will help develop air sacs in the lungs. Sweat glands r also appearing n although bb eyelids r fused shut, if we flash a torchlight at the tummy, he will turn away fm it! Bb will also be forming his/her taste bud.. so mummy, watever u r eating, bb is also doin the same... in 1 or 2 weeks time, we will b able to tell bb is a boy or girl liao.. tat is provided during the detailed scan, bb will "kangkang" his/her legs lor... Diet.. Mummy shld b gainin bout 2 to 3 kilos now, tho not achieved yet, n since the appetite have returned, will create a healthy diet to achieve it... perhaps it will b with followin:

  • Breads, cereals, pasta, and other whole grains: six to eleven servings
  • Milk and fun dairy products like ice cream: four to six servings
  • Vegetables: three to five servings
  • Proteins like lean meats, eggs, and beans: three to four servings (protein is responsible for the growth of body tissues, including all of your baby's, the amniotic fluid and placenta, and the increase in your blood volume.)
  • Fruits: two to four servings
  • 64 ounces of water per day!

Mummy, if u readin tis, follow it during ur office hours also hor.. Exercise... Stretching exercises can be done on a daily basis approximately five to 10 repetitions. Hold each position or stretch for 20-30 seconds. Careful to not overstretch yourself since your joints will be a bit looser during pregnancy. Approximately three times a week, low or non-impact aerobic activity with an appropriate warm-up and cool-down can be beneficial. Remember to not exercise beyond the point of moderately heavy perspiration. Sustain aerobic activity for 15-20 minutes as long as you are able to talk comfortably and are not short of breath. Walking, swimming, or cycling are suitable forms of exercise, but must be applied moderately. Some benefits of pre-natal exercise can include the following:

  • Enhanced circulation and flexibility
  • Increased energy, strength, stamina, fitness levels and muscle control
  • Reduced effects of biomechanical changes to your body
  • Reduced discomfort of water retention, tension, stress, depression, and excessive weight gain
  • Minimized stretch-marks, varicose veins, abdominal separation and hyperventilation.
  • Minimized postpartum or “Baby Blues”
  • Increased relaxation
  • Improved calcium absorption

Some things to avoid during exercise:

  • Rigorous bouncing
  • Arching your back
  • Poor posture
  • Dehydration
  • Strain
  • Sitting past 45 degrees

Tips for getting a good night's sleep:

  • Cut down or eliminate caffeine - tea, coffee, soda, and chocolate in general are all stimulants; it's best to avoid them whenever possible, but especially in the late afternoon and evening
  • Create a sleep atmosphere in your bedroom - curtains that block out the light, keeping the temperature lower than the rest of the house, and most importantly leave your worries on the other side of the bedroom door!
  • Take the time to unwind - do not exercise for at least 2 hours before bed. This includes housework! Take this time to read a chapter in your book, listen to relaxing music or just talk quietly with your partner.
  • Avoid the pizza and pickles - spicy or acidic foods can cause heartburn and indigestion. If possible have your main meal at lunch time, and go for the smaller lighter meals for dinner.
  • Allow yourself 2-3 hours to digest your last meal.
  • Make an appointment with bedtime - try to keep your bedtime routine the same. Going to sleep and rising at the same time every day, will help to train your body in good sleep habits.
  • Don't lie there - if you're having trouble getting comfortable or falling asleep, instead of getting frustrated, get up. Have a bubble bath, read some more of your book, have a glass of warm milk.
  • Give yourself some time then try again.

Getting comfortable:

  • Pillows, Pillows and more Pillows - Did I mention pillows? Use pillows everywhere. Under your belly, legs, arms, behind your back. As your body grows you will soon find that pillows will become your best friend.
  • Sleep on your left side - This is said to be the best position for pregnant women to sleep in. Sleeping on your left side helps blood and nutrients flow to the fetus and uterus and helps the kidneys eliminate waste and fluids.
  • Nearing the end - As you near the end of your pregnancy, you may find that sleeping flat is just not going to happen. Elevating your upper body with pillows will help your breathing, as will raising the head of your bed by placing blocks under the mattress. Some moms find it more comfortable to sleep in a recliner during the last few weeks of pregnancy.

n much much more info can be found here: http://www.pregnancyweekly.com/pregnancy_information/ Preparation... Next week, we will be seeing our gynae again... by then if we r lucky, we should b able to tell whether bb is boy or girl liao..

Things to do list:

  • Start boiling more often tonics n now proper diet for both mummy n bb
  • Start buying more soothin music/nursery rhymes, educational stuff n communicate it n read it to bb
  • Start shoppin or findin hand me downs maternity dress for mummy
  • Transform guest room to bb room, not major but maybe get some cartoon wallpaper of sort
  • Start scouting for best deals to shop for bb stuff, tho already hv a list in hand.. :)
  • Start looking at saving/education investment plans for bb in future
  • Look for best antenatal class n to sign up for it in few weeks time, best to sign up on the 24th week

wat else i missed out uh... hmm... maybe will add more when think of it. k, think tis post is quite long liao, better not add anymore, else all fall asleep readin it.. btw, anyone heard of "bean sprout" pillows? its for "security" n the husk from the bean sprout is lighter n will not cause suffocation lor..

It has been a long long time since last update..

hi all! like the title of tis post, it has been a long long time since the last update.. wifey is back to work n i'm bz "hunting", at same time clearing some of the stuff. Her morning sickness has not mellowed down yet tho.. hopefully it will soon, cause she feels very "kang ko" at times.. BB is doin great, we went for the Trimester Detailed Scan n OSCAR test recently.. In the detailed scan, it was amazing how we can see bb moving, can actually see the shape of the features, nose, head, limbs and if my eyes didnt play tricks on me, i swear tat i can see bb waving at us... so exciting! We were given the scans of about 6 images after tat.. the gender, well, still can't tell yet. We also kiasu, so we went for the OSCAR test, this is a test where combined with Nuchal Translucency Assesment combined with your blood test for Free beta HCG and PAPP-A, it will test for abnormalities and also risk of the bb having Down Syndrome. The test doesnt take too long, but it will burn a hole in your pocket. Nevertheless it was worth it and very small sum to pay for to have the ease of mind. For more info: U can read tis site if keen. http://www.babycentre.co.uk/refcap/544491.html#0 http://www.fetalmedicine.com/f-fmc-scans.htm http://www.fetalmedicine.hk/en/oscardetails.asp Our bb results r out, n bb is doing just fine! yeah! we went to see our doc yesterday n he explained to us the results n all.. well, our nx appointment is in 3 weeks time, by then maybe we can estimate if bb is a boy or girl uh.. :) thanks all for those still poppin into our blog.. hv a great short week uh. :)

Dilemma

Wifey is not feelin too good again, her excessive morning sickness is back, and she is on mc today.. junior seems to like long weekends. *faint* its kinda of worrying to see tat she is in tis condition for past weeks, our doc says its perfectly norm, but will employers understand? even asked few friends around n u will hear all sort of stories.. some bad till hv to quit job, some managed to "survive" through the ordeal.. with wifey condition, i think its safer for me to get a stable job n consider the options... but kinda puts me in a spot now, should i just go for any job tat comes first? of course it has to meet my expectations then... or wait till i get something i like to do since i'm goin back to the rat race? Should i go for the money or the passion? Dilemma... well, guess its no point having to worry too much i guess, will just try to take things a step at a time.. now, just keep on exploring for opportunities n pray hard lor... :P k, got to go back to work. to all the visitors here, have a good week ahead!! ps i think one best solution is for me to strike TOTO tonight!! HAHAHAA!

Circumstances..

in life, we need to adapt to circumstances, life itself have many of suprises.. Forest Gump once said "Life is like a box of chocolate, you aint' know what is in it" as we are watching the miracle happenin, we also need to look at the future n plan much much ahead.. n these r new plans where priorities need to be reassigned.. wifey mornin sickness is gettin from bad to worse, then again guess its not as bad as it sounds, she can still walk n talk, its just the constant "dizzy, nauseous" feeling.. anyway, told her tat we should take it as an experience which we can share w junior when he is older... will tell him/her tat he/she better b a good kid cos mummy puke many times while carrying u ... :) anyway, many things need to change, as i hv all tis things in mind.. the best thing to do now is to open up ur mind to many possibilities n plans, n t refine it to the best possible one so tat when junior is out, we can then have ease of mind... crucial problems beside communication n support during tis period of time, is also practicality in life.. we all live in a society where everythin u touch is money, so finances r v important, else it will b only an added stress.. so, let the opportunities flow in, u never try, u never know... "if u believe u can, u hv won half the battle.."

past 9 days..

darn, juz as i've finished typin the blog, there was an error n i lost all i've typed! here i am typin it again, will make it short in tat case.. past 9 days hv been a roller coaster ride, hv my dad in hospital, wifey was not feelin well n all bz with few stuff in work/business tat needs to be sorted out. for those who asked, she is coping, thanks for asking. Just tat feelin lethargic cause lack of appetite, dizziness n mornin sickness. At times, puke up to 3 or 4 times in day.. urgh.. her diet nowdays, will try to cook porridge with ikan bilis, carrot, potato and fish, then have pickled lettuce to go with it. called our gynae few times, he said its norm during tis period. today, 20th Mar, wifey still feelin quite weak, so we decided to go early n meet him.. he said its norm to feel tat way, in fact his wife felt the same through the 2nd trimester too. we did the scan, and AMAZING, junior's size have quadrapule in 2 weeks time! WOW! We saw junior's head, arms, legs and most importantly the heartbeat... in our nx appointment, we might be able to tell junior's gender by then.. AMAZING, amazing! k, i'll make it short for tis update, will blog again soon.. now tat things r settled, need to get everythin back on track. btw, our furkid is now a real superstar worldwide, his pic is on the internet! http://www.petbak.com.sg/order.php
