Ok ok, one last post to make up for the past few days... Baby Names

interesting read.. some applicable, some not... Naming a baby is no easy task. However, the following tips will help you give your baby his or her very first gift.
  • Religion: For some parents, religion plays a major role in choosing a baby name. Roman Catholics traditionally choose saints’ names. Jews traditionally choose Old Testament names. Names of deceased relatives are often chosen. Protestants often choose both Old and New Testament names. Interesting Fact! : The majority of the people in the Western hemisphere have names from the Bible. The New Testament is a more popular source of names than the Old Testament.
  • Number of Names. You have many options when it comes to the number of names you choose for your baby. It is very common for a baby to be given three names, however, this is not mandatory. You may choose a first and last name; a first and last name and only a middle initial; initials for both first and middle names; or several middle names. Keep in mind, though, that several middle names will cause space problems for your child any time he or she fills out a form.
  • Sounds. Names are easy or hard to say depending upon the combination of letters used. A name such as Harry Berry invites potential teasing. Try this to create a nice effect: choose a first name that has the same amount of syllables as the last name. Whoopi Goldberg is a good example. Interesting Fact! : Whoopi Goldberg’s original name is Caryn Johnson.
  • Pronunciation. Nobody likes to have their name mis-pronounced. This is an important factor to keep in mind with unique names.
  • Popularity. Choosing a popular name increases the likelihood that there will be other children in your child’s school with the same name. This may make him or her not feel as unique. However, a child with a popular name may be perceived better by peers than a child with a unique name.
  • Stereotypes. Many names create a positive or negative image. A name is often a person’s first introduction to others. Therefore, you must make careful considerations when choosing a name to fit your new baby.
  • Initials. Initials of a person’s name often spell words. If you choose to take this route, be sure that it will be a word you son or daughter will be happy with.
  • Meanings. Almost every name has a meaning. However, most people don’t know the meaning of their names. This may help in deciding between some of your favorite baby name choices.
  • Family History. Family History often comes into play when naming a baby. If you have to use a family name that you aren’t happy with, consider using it as a middle name.
  • Celebrity Names. A common source of today’s baby names comes from the names of celebrities and from the names that celebrities choose for their children. Characters from TV and movies are another popular source.
  • Make sure that the name you choose is one that your child will be able to grow with. Keep in mind that it should be applicable for all ages. Many names come with stereotypes.
  • It is important for both parents to compromise when selecting a name for your baby. However, keep in mind that you can always use two names, using one as a middle name.

Let me make a post before i get my butt to work..

omg, its already Thurs, n how time flies.. well as my earlier blog says, today is wifeys' BIG Day!! Happy Birthday Dear! Hope u liked the special breakfast i made.. sardines w cool cucumber accompanied w a sip of Meiji Fresh Milk, n to top it up w fresh juicy kiwi fm NZ added w a tingling salt n sweetness to the vitamin riched green apple.. bon apetite! :) ok, let's see wat hv evolved for past few days... actually been in n out of house for meet-ups, can't recall much of it, except tat yesterday, after meetings, went to orchard in late afternoon to shop for wifey's birthday gift, due to "budget" constraint.. :( , finally found the right wallet which we saw together before... gone r the days where am willing to splurge on materialistic stuff, imagine paying $500 bucks for a wallet.... money will now be better saved for bb n for some investment n savings... here's the pic of the wallet lor, one of the latest collection... As to how bb is doing, he is now quite intelligent already, it seems tat he got bored with the music tat mummy is playin in the car everyday, n just because of "xian", he will just sleep through it, but when mummy sings w the music in the car, then he becomes active!! so clever... How your baby's growing: Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week, when she was just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long, that makes a pretty lean figure, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon put on more baby fat. Your baby's skin is thin, translucent, and wrinkled, her brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds are developing. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily. Amazing stuff!! tis is how bb is in mummy now.. pic n description is courtesy from babycentre.com i very bad lor, becos so bz, mummy is the one readin him story for past few days lor.. better make it a point to do so liao... naughty me! oh, yesterday, gave me a fright when i tot wifey fell, but it was actually she slipped but managed to not fall.. phew! got worried for awhile... TO DO LIST, think better go get better pair of shoes tis weekend... ok, today is wifey's big day, maybe go buy toto on her lucky numbers n see can strike ornot.. :)

Happy Birthday Dear!!

tis is the most important post i need to put up first... Happy Birthday dear! You're the best thing that have happened in my life!!!

Bb now weighs 626 grams!

According to BabyCentre, bb should be... How your baby's growing: Your baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound. His skin is red and wrinkled. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare him for breathing. He can swallow, but he normally won't pass his first stool (called meconium) until after birth. Loud noises heard often in utero — such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze your baby when he hears them outside the womb. Bb weighs 626grams now, above the 1 pound, n growing well.. btw, here is a golden number uh, 6260!! haha! we also collected the Anomaly Scan results back, all norm n in good shape! The scan last night was pretty fast as our gynae was like in a rush, then again most important thig is bb is kicking mummy n very active nowadays! so instead of dainty kicks, he now kicks like "Andrei Schvechenko", one of the world's most expensive footballers! haha! anyway, also to share tat came across tis website, maybe good for u to see the products n maybe check out the prices for comparison.. www.babytown.com.sg till then again, cya..

Shopping, partial done..

on the weekend, we hv gotten the most important item for bb.. his bed... its a 6 in1 where u can convert it to a junior bed for bbn he can sleep in it till 3 to 4 yrs old.. n it has 4 levels of height where it can be used.. with a one-hand maneuvor for lifting up the crib's door.. quite a good buy, we got it for less than $300, outside selling $300+ "ah mai" Joy also went with us to do the shopping n she bought bb his first car.. its Capella Optima Air.. can't find the actual pix, but its exactly the same one as tis LuckyBaby one.. we liked it cos its light n when folded, its quite small. it also caters for fm newborn to 3 yrs old.. we went to Baby Hypermart n Baby Kingdom at Kaki Bukit, we bought it fm Baby Kingdom cause its not too cramped or crowded as Hypermart. But honestly, not all the things in the hypermarts are cheaper.. for example the Medela Pump is cheaper at Kiddy Palace when they had the 20% sales (ended yesterday), but we got the cot n stroller slightly cheaper n they absorbed the GST n Free Delivery, so it was alright.. Also, so far bb now seems to be able to understand what we say, cause he kicks mummy when questions are asked.. :) he has so far listened to Jack n the Beanstalk n Cinderalla story for the week, mummy read him some chinese one which i know nuts lor.. mummy is goin to b very bz tis week cos of CommunicAsia, n we will be seeing our gynae tmr! YEAH!! can say hi to bb again!!! excited, exhilarated!!! :) k, need to go get some stuff done... cheers all n hv a great week ahead!!

Reason...

For everythin tat happens, there muz b a reason y its happenin.. well, my job huntin wasn't successful.. well, perhaps there is something greater awaiting, will just keep on trying.. "if u think u can. u can!" last week was rather bz, parents was in town.. we had our first ParentCraft class, we liked it, it was good, in fact it was extended for an hour... :) we have confirmed the following: 1. bird nest of any grades has same nutrients, its just a matter of taste to ur liking 2. DHA supplements, not necessary as our body itself produces enough nutrients for bb 3. Coconut water can take, but its cooling, so best taken only in last tri 4. Alcohol is a definate no-no 5. "not fully ripe" papaya soup is good for producin "milk" 6. sushi can take, but make sure fm a clean n reputable restaurant lor but cockles n crab, better don risk it lor, cos of the places n food they take.. *urgh* we also learnt some exercises, for mummy n bb... many other things we learnt. can't wait for nx one.. parents left on the weekend.. on the weekend decided to catch a movie cos not done so for v long, we watched CARS, we love it! Animation was great! Storyline simple but good.. i would give it a 3 out of 5 stars. N yesterday, we went out for dinner n wifey is now proudly carryin her early bday present lor... :) wifey, hope u liked it.. and most importantly, bb seems to be gettin more active nowadays.. well, managed to read him half of "Sleeping Beauty" last night, will continue part 2 tonight.. :)
